INSTRUCTIONS FOR HEAT CURE VINYL AND LEATHER REPAIR KIT:

Always makke a practice repair before beginning your job. Use the practice piece vinyl included in the kit. Cut a hole in the practice vinyl and follow the following steps:

CLEAN THE SURFACE AREAS TO BE REPAIRED Clean the damaged spot with appropriate cleaner. Trim off any torn edges, frays, or threads with a scissor.

APPLY SUBPATCH PAPER Subpatch in the kit is used as a support under the damaged spot. Minor damages, cuts, scratches do not require this backing support. If you have a hole, cut the subpatch paper slightly larger than the damage and insert it into and under the hole. Adhesive side faces up and is in contact with leather.

SPREADING THE REPAIR COMPOUND Use the spatula to apply compound. The colors in the kit are the repair compound colors. Mix the colors to achieve your desired color. Apply the repair compound as evenly as possible into the damaged area. Spread in thin layers. Few thin layers create a much stronger repair than one thick application. For a quality repair job, remember: thin layers. If needed, you can sand the areas for smoothness after the compound dries.

APPLYING GRAINS If your leather has NO grains, skip this step. If your leather has grains, select one of the grain papers that closely match your grain patterns and place it on top of your repair compound.Do not move the grain paper around as the grains will be distorted.

CURING WITH HEAT The correct application of heat is critical to a quality, lasting repair job. The compound must be heated to 300 degrees for the compound to cure. Hold the metal round tip of the Fixer Tool and immediately place it on the grain paper and move it in a circular motions. Keeping it on the grain paper which covers the repair compound. The heat must transfer thru the grain paper onto the repair compound to get a strong repair job. Make certain the tip of the heating tool only touches the grain paper, not the vinyl or leather, keep the tip moving in a circular motion so that you have an even repair. Be extremely careful to avoid burning or melting the leather/vinyl adjacent to the repair.

FINAL TOUCH Slowly peel the grains paper off.. If the compound is still in a liquid soft state, place the grain paper back down and reheat the repair compound until it is completely hard/dry. If you peel off the grain paper and see an areas which is not filled and grained properly, simply apply more color repair compound, then the grain paper, and reheat. If you want a high gloss or matte sheen finish, you can purchase these seperately.
