 The adhesive of his backing fabric will be activated with heat. It creates a base to fill the hole with repair compound and makes the repair stronger. Only needed if you have a hole or tears, rips all the way thru leather.
Instructions:
Cut paper to size of the repair (about 1/2in larger than the hole/rip), round off the sharp edges. Put the adhesive side to the underside of the repair area. Activate the glue with HEAT: like a heatgun, or fixer heating tool. A HAIR DRYER works out fine if you don't have heat gun or fixer tool.
Subpatch material has a glue already applied to the smooth side, just apply heat to activate the glue.
