Step 1:Degrease (optional)
Degrease if your leather is oily, greasy. These oily spots are common around the head rest, armrest, seat cushions. This product is for the removal of oil (usually from hair and skin) from leather.
Apply Leather Degreaser to the leather, and it dissolves the oils and transforms them into a powder that is more absorbent than the leather. Leave the powder on for about 1, 2 hours to draw the oil out.
Vacuum the soiled powder or wipe it off with a clean, damp towel. Repeat as needed. Typically, 2, 3 application is needed.
When a grease or oil stain has built up gradually over several years, it cannot be removed in a few minutes. Your patience is necessary to complete the job.
STEP 2: CLEAN
Clean with Strong Cleaner & a sponge. Scrub thoroughly, paying close attention to textured or recessed areas. Using a clean lint free towel or microfiber and wiping in ONE direction to remove residues (wiping in ONE direction will remove contaminants from the surface versus smearing contamninants around).
Use the product in combination with a sponge to foam the product, and a cloth to wipe away the excess dirt. It is not unusual to see darkening of the leather; it will lighten again as it dries. This product is NOT a detergent, but rather a surfactant, so it needs a little extra time to work. Be patient. Repeat process for stubborn soiling.
STEP 3: PREP
If your leather is rough at some areas, Scuff the leather with a clean gray scuff pad, AND/OR 400 grit sandpaper. Blow off dust and clean again with Strong Cleaner, wipe off residues with a clean lint-free towel. IMPORTANT: Wait for the leather to dry before proceeding to the next step.
Rub Prebottom C into leather in circular motion, using a lint free cloths. Apply one section at a time. Apply color within 5 minutes while Prebottom is still moist.
STEP 4: APPLY COLOR
Apply Colorline Pigment, High Covering to enhance and renew your leather color.
Hand stir or shake well to make sure color is consistent. There are 2 ways to apply color: BRUSH method OR SPRAY method. SPRAy method always yields a smoother result.
* When
BRUSHING, use Poly Brush or Foam Brush. Hand Rub first layer of High Covering onto the still tacky PreBottom C. Dry with a hair dryer. Apply 1 light coat followed by 2 medium wet coats. Allow 5-10 minutes flash time between coats. Appply sufficient coat to achieve hiding. Allow color to dry sufficiently between coats to avoid brush marks.
* When
SPRAYING, Hold Gun 6in-8in from the surface. Use 25-30psi from non-HVLP equipment or 8-10psi from at the cap for HVLP equipment. Apply 1 coat followed by 2 medium wet coats. Allow 5-10 minutes flash time between coats.
Spread apart cushions for spraying & drying, pay close atttention to creases and in between cushions.
Even though film is dry to the touch, the subtrate should not be subjected to heavy abuse or abrasion for 48 hours.
NOTE: dry time is depedent on relative humidity and air circulation. Curing can be accelerated with a fan placed 3-4feet from the surface.
STEP 5: Apply Finish Coat
LM 100 is ideal for sealing leather that do not have the proper rub assistance. Choose your preferred sheen: Gloss or Matte. For superior result, mix LM 100 with TA Hardener.
Can be hand applied in circular motion. Avoid applying in straight back and forth motion, as wipe marks may show. Do not over apply as hazing may result. Spray application usually result in a superior finish.
Dry area with a hair dryer and let stand 24 hours to cure.
